welcome to the know your ship podcast presented by ehub I’m your
host Frank Dolce welcome we’re in welcome to the know your ship podcast I I’m
really looking forward to this this conversation me because this is Paige
hope founder of Elon pure and Paige and I don’t really know each other at all
we have a mutual friend who helped set up this podcast and so this is really
interesting for me as I was telling you before most or all of the people
we’ve had on the podcast I have some sort of background or relationship with
and and I we have mutual friends and so I’m calling people and doing research
and and have this stuff to rely on and asking questions this one feels like
so I’ve done a lot of research which I appreciate preparing for this I’ve
listened to L A lot of your podcasts I’ve read all of your LinkedIn posts you
have very interesting and funny LinkedIn posts I guess the first question I
thank you for being here by the way oh thank you for having me so nice I why
did you agree to be on this podcast that okay here’s what I’ll say I get
asked to be on a lot of people’s podcasts my LinkedIn DMs I think I was
telling you this I can’t even look in there or I will have an aneurysm
because there’s just so much going on in there um but one I because I’ve built
my career in Utah I really love supporting Utah businesses whether it’s you
guys someone else Brands whatever I can do to kind of help build the ethos
and ecosystem within Utah I am super passionate about and so that was number
one and then number two of course we have that mutual friend and so anyone
who comes as a referral that’s if you want me on your podcast just know you
got to go through a referral there’s the secret that’s the secret right there
the friend is Matt hullman and Matt hullman runs a great group called
Commerce Catalyst and it’s fantastic you can go find them online all the
social channels and everything else but yeah Matt Matt was fantastic and I I
typically go out and try to I’m asking people all the time hey this is what
we’re doing who would be a good guest Matt said immediately well you need to
have you need to have paig so that’s how it worked out we just got lucky
thank you Matt yeah yeah we we got lucky Matt’s a good Matt’s a good guy okay
well I I have a lot of questions I I have so many questions I don’t I want to
try and keep it organized are you a little add like I am well in this in this
scenario yes not typ I don’t I wouldn’t call myself that typically but in
this scenario yes because I I have so many questions and then you’ll say
something and that will generate more it’s like it’s really hard to keep it
or so I’m going to try and keep it organized you feel free to rain me back in
if it goes off off the rail somewhere here I’m just excited to be here well
we’re excited to have you here this is going to be fascinating okay here we
go where did the idea for Elon pure what’s the Genesis and why are you so
passionate about it fantastic start well back in 2020 my sister was diagnosed
with an autoimmune disease and it’s Graves disease which is one of the worst
and hardest to heal autoimmune diseases out there and what we learned going
through this process was a lot of the food that we’re eating a lot of the
products we’re putting on our skin are actually increasing the chances of you
getting an autoimmune disease or even um cancer which is like I don’t like to
fear Monger but because our ulations in the US are so low they just don’t ban
anything here so I had my wheels turning back in 20120 and of course we talked
a little bit offline I was building a tech company at this time but behind
the scenes I was like I know that I’m going to be doing something different
here in the next couple years like I always would just kind of knew it and as
my sister was going through her stuff I ended up going through my own
hormonal challenges because if you know anything about you know if you you
haven’t been through anything crazy you’re like oh that won’t happen to me
right right so when you see someone making these crazy Lifestyle Changes
you’re like well that sucks that you have to give up you know red 40 or
whatever you know all of these things yes but then all of a sudden you have
your own aha moment right and so my goal with Alan pure is to give people
their aha moment before it’s too late so the reason I started with a self
tanner specifically was because when we were going through and understanding
which ingredients are actually linked to hormone disruption MH that was the
one where it had the largest amount of endocrine disruptors and I was
lathering that on my skin once a week because as I told you I’m Danish so my
skin is transparent you don’t have that base I don’t have a base and I can’t
build a base it’s not even a thing for me it was not that is not a gift that
I am on this Earth with so that is what I started with and I just remember
it’s the craziest thing and people ask me well how did you do it and I’m like
it was literally like a seed planted and I just kept taking action I was like
okay well I’m going to go find a chemist I’m going to go figure out how to
build this and then it just happened over time again it took 2 years to
formulate this thing because we couldn’t have any endocrine disruptors and I
wanted it different in market so we had a really strong differentiator which
is a foam and lotion hybrid MH and and I also wanted it to smell good like we
were talking about a little bit earlier without fragrances so we have that
again organic vanilla um but to go even deeper I had this whole vision and
you know we have a podcast living awn I had this vision of creating this
massive network of people that are like-minded wanting to come together help
spread awareness for this not just products it’s way more impact driven for
me than that I’m like I wake up every day to do something love and to create
impact because that’s genuinely what I want to do which is why I didn’t go to
the VC route which we can talk about later yeah but uh with that being said I
mean we’ve only been live seven months and we have 1,500 people part of our
Network which is a combination of Affiliates creators and people that just
want to help promote Al laan pure and what we’re building and just the
mission behind it so that’s amazing it’s fun so the one of the things I’d
like to dig into in a in a little bit is this is a p like it’s a passion
project for you because you had you had an issue family members had issues
you started doing research you thought that I can create something that’s
better for people to improve to help improve their lives so there’s there’s
that part there’s this passion about it but it’s you also have to run a
business and you have to make money and you have to keep door and you have to
employ people yeah like all of the things so I want to understand at some
point we’ll talk about how you marry this passion project with actually
running a business because there are distinct challenges about that and
that’s one of the things we like to dig into on this podcast is what are the
things that you do really well what are the obstacles that you overcome what
are the lessons that you learn what would you like to tell other people about
running a business in addition to when it says fragrance on a bottle that’s
like 3,000 other things under that one word that no one would ever in fact
yeah you you’ve got me crazy now because love hear that I like to bring I’m a
pastry guy like I love pastry and and my nice daughter who’s over here
producing today she also loves pastry she got that from me fortunately or unfortunately
I don’t know so like that’s a that’s a love language for me when I have a
podcast guest I always bring a box of pastry because that to me is like this
is offering this you know goodness but then I’m I’m getting the pastry this
morning and I’m like oh man it’s probably chalk full of seed oils she’s she’s
going to look at that and like did you do you even know who I am or what I’m
doing so I hope I didn’t offend you by bringing the pastry no listen like I
told you I try to live 8020 right used to have to enjoy the joys of Life yeah
and I’m absolutely going to enjoy this today everyone just so you all know
but then 80% of what I do is definitely very clean majority of the time
gluten-free dairy free Etc that I think that’s a great way to to live and I
was listening to another podcast about just taking making small steps like
you know a lot of people say well I want to be more fit and for some that can
be really challenging to get to the gym and have a workout and go you know
adding that into your routine but maybe just taking the step of getting to
the gym right you know yes okay now I’m at the gym I’m here might I might as
well you know do so taking those small steps living more of an 8020 feels
much more manageable than doing this 100% I am never eating a pastry again if
I said that to myself and it’s I’m set setting myself up for failure yeah
well because you love them yes and you know that intrinsically so if you love
them you can’t give that up 100% yeah no I think when I was healing my
hormones naturally I did cut a lot of things cold turkey and the nice thing
about when you heal your hormones you can kind of start to bring some of
these Joys back in a little bit but then still maintain the 8020 so I did cut
I mean I I what is one one one of the things that you cut that you were like
oh man this is really tough well for beauty it was fragrance and red 40 just
immediately because those are really easy to to read cuz it took me a while
to understand in did you say in fragrance Yes red 40 I thought red 40 was
only an additive in like oh my gosh Gatorade no there’s red 40 in makeup
really yes so those were the easiest because it’s so hard to read ingredients
when you first start like okay what’s a peg how do you read what a peg is
what is SLS like all of these ingredients I had to start with what I knew how
to read and so I was like okay the fragrances because it’s either perfume
perfume and it is sometimes spelled parfume fragrance and then red 40 is so
easy to just see and then in food I also cold turkey cut red 40 because that
is in a lot of things like it is crazy even when you go out of the US say the
company I’m like blanking on someone say Froot Loops for instance their
ingredients are actually different oh I know in Europe I know this which is
wild to me that’s crazy I know well have you traveled you’ve traveled to
Europe and let me just ask you this when you travel through Europe I’ve had
this experience and when you eat in Europe for some extended period of Time
how do you feel amazing I know it’s unbelievable I was in Italy in August
yeah eating pizza and pasta every day that’s gluten and dairy yeah and did
you feel terrible every day no I felt amazing and I didn’t even get bloated I
I know same experience it’s actually crazy where it’s here because we have so
many chemicals the junk and glyphosphate and just everything I can’t even do
and our Dairy is basically fake here as well I know I know I hate to just be
the bear of B you’re killing me Smalls you’re killing me I feel like this may
be a bad podcast for me I’m going to walk out of here like a basket case I
was putting I was putting on my standard cologne spray this morning and I was
like like uh-oh this isn’t going to this is this isn’t going to go well I’ll
send you some good I’ll send you some good recommendations cuz you can still
smell good like there are plenty I mean I shouldn’t say plenty but there are
a lot of awesome small brands that have really good non-toxic perfumes and
cologn and actually eventually we are launching because our self tanner
smells so good we are launching a vanilla perfume in the future that’s
nontoxic you’re getting a good nod over here from the woohoo we already got
one customer yeah I think vanilla might be a universal totally but you know
what I just P my personal thing is I don’t lean into vanilla that’s not my
okay okay so you might you might not care for the self-tanner then well I’m
not yeah I’m not going to use self tanner but but I appreciate the the scent
yeah I just don’t think it works on me like vanilla on me doesn’t feel like
it’s a good but listen your daughter over here yeah she’s going to love it we
were talking to one of our one of our peers out here Katie she’s totally down
with vanilla I think that’s I think that’s a very good yeah a very good
choice what tell me about tell me about your childhood growing up and how you
got to this point of of building your your passion project gosh someone just
asked me this and what’s so crazy is I was the type of child I’ve always been
really social mhm so in school I actually was not that I don’t want to say
not smart because that is not the case I just didn’t apply myself but I got
really good grades because I social engineered my way into becoming you know
just almost like friends with the teachers professors Etc MH and I really I
learned at a really young age how to talk to people and how to be interested
in people and I remember taking a test one time and not knowing the answer
because math never my strong strong suit now I have to be good at math but um
I remember going up to my teacher’s desk and literally because they loved me
so much I would point to what answer I wanted it to be I was like is it this
and they would just shake their head no and then I would go to the other one
is it this they’d shake their head no and i’ go to the last one and they
shake their head yes and that was literally my childhood which is so crazy to
think about because because then when I get when I got out of school into
college past that I started to realize oh I actually like actually like
learning I just I just didn’t like that part but I I like to do all of this
other stuff MH and really quickly after I graduated I went right into
Corporate America and I became a leader at the age of 22 just because like
all of a sudden I tapped into my power and I was like holy cow I can totally
rain this in so most people all in their 20s I spent my 20s building my
career yeah I I was just I was just chatting with someone about this
yesterday of how different our experiences were and I just was kind of an old
soul and I just kind of knew I was meant to do something in this life and so
I went from I did ran marketing at an adoption agency then I ran marketing at
this place locally actually called Wilson Electronics and then I got
recruited to go build this tech company and that kind of like kicked off wow
I can do this like I can do hard things MH and luckily that tech company it
was an influencer technology software MH so we ended up getting to work with
hundreds of e-commerce Brands go which is how I understood and learned about
product and how to actually price things how to work with manufacturers and
how all of this whole thing works right the scams of Manufacturers if I can
say that on here too sure absolutely it’s a little bit of a slimy business
you got to you got to rain them in um and that’s kind of how I arrived here
so what is your you said that you you leaned into your power or your
superpower what is it what’s your superpower I am able I there’s a couple
things when I walk into a room I have a lot of energy like before I even open
my mouth people can feel it and it kind of like commands this presence and I
have I’ve always had it just this infectious optimism and so I organically
became a leader at a really young age because I was able to kind of take
those two things and hone them in and build people up but also build
alongside Founders and know how to speak their language and energy and
optimism really do go a long way mhm like you have to have both to do what I
am doing specifically because it is not for the faint of heart at all and you
also I think like with the optimistic side you’re going to have a bunch of
failures it’s just the reality you can’t get to where we are without it so
when you have the optimistic mindset you don’t dwell on the things that are
failing right you just see see the future and just keep going you learn from
it but you can’t sit in it for too long I think a lot of Founders sit
especially in our early phase they sit in the failures and they don’t know
how to get out of this like fog MH where you have to be able to just say Okay
nope I’m going to stay centered we’re going to get out of this fog and we’re
just going to keep hustling and we’re just going to keep going so is this
energy and optimism and mindset is this something you’ve developed over time
or is something that you just had naturally you were born with it and is it
exhausting okay well twofold number one I have always been pretty positive MH
that that has always come really naturally to me but I learned that it was a
superpower and I really leaned into it when I got into the tech company
because when you’re in Tech and you’re working with I mean I was I remember
sitting at a table with 12 men and I was the only female mhm and it’s like
that feminine energy that I brought like the men actually needed that like it
was a weird it’s like the craziest experience like seeing that these really
Alpha Tech men they need this feminine energy to kind of come in and like
Center and bring a teeny bit of the piece because for some reason like
intrinsically well you get a bunch of cavemen in a room together that’s what
it is and they all have their clubs and they’re all going to do battle with
each other so no one’s willing to let the guard down the ego is just going to
be there you probably gave a little bit of space for people to do that yes
okay that’s just my interpretation yes no 100% but I’ve been in that
situation before too it’s like you’re going every time you walk into that
conference from you’re going into battle that’s a great lesson it is a great
lesson and also you just kind of not let the ego ever stay in the way too
yeah and okay now I forgot what your other one was oh is it exhausting well
okay before you answer is it exhausting when you were growing up with family
friends did you have examples of this I mean could you look back and say oh
yeah my this family member was always optimistic when everything anything
went wrong this is the way responded to it or or is there something else that
that built that Foundation of optimism you know I I do remember I was a
little bit of a warrior and I do remember my mom just always being like it
all just works out like that was kind of her answer for everything like no
big deal like it just it works out I know and it’s kind of true it seems so
simple but that is kind of true it is kind of true and so I always kind of
had that in the back of my mind like okay what’s meant for me will be like
we’re on this we’re on this life experience right what’s meant for me will be
and so I can’t really mess up what’s for me I’m kind of meant to go through
all of this stuff yeah so I I will probably say I’ve never thought about that
but I’m sure subconsciously that definitely helped with my optimism but I
will say because my energy is so high I do remember if I’m ever around anyone
that has negative just negative Vibes you know or anything I don’t do well
around negative people I don’t do well around gossipers I don’t do well
around people that are envious of others because it really does bring me down
like I’m also sensitive to that and so what I’ve learned is when I keep my
optimism high and my positivity High I actually end up bringing those types
of people up and I would way rather do that than you know have my energy
affected so that’s kind of where I’m like these are awesome superpowers I
need to just keep up because I’m also helping people throughout the process
too yeah absolutely and how does I’m getting to this part about you getting
exhausted whether or not you get exhausted but then you keep saying things
okay so when you’re around negativity how do you how do you manage it how do
you overcome it because you’re obviously affected by it so I’ll just go back
to the tech company when I hire people I remember building out a very
specific interview list because infectious optimism is so important to me
that like I would have a list of questions underneath that so I’d have all of
our values right and then I’d have okay how do I ask a question where I’m
going to be able to see what they’re what they’re like right naturally um so
at one I would always try not to hire those types of people that are negative
because that is cancerous and that I think it ruins companies I really do
like you’re preaching to the Go I mean you’re preaching to the choir here I
want okay I don’t want to forget this we’re g to we’ll put a pin in it and
we’re going to talk about culture at some point running the business side
because to me it’s supremely important I almost ask all of our guests culture
versus strategy and it’s 99% of people are like it’s culture yeah culture is
the most meaningful okay I interrupted you no right right in the middle of
your deep thought maybe this is the point where we can go to okay so is it
exhausting being so optimistic and energetic all the time no it because it’s
intrinsic like that’s why I say it’s like infectious and intrinsic like but
also it’s my lifestyle so a lot of people you get tired you get exhausted
when you’re not living a healthy lifestyle when you’re not taking care of
yourself when you’re when you yourself aren’t confident and have it sounds
really cheesy but if you don’t love yourself like so much you’re there’s
always going to be a little bit of you that compares yourself to others in
comparison is the thief of Joy right and so there’s a few things when I tell
people and when they ask I want to be more like that like how do I how do I
actually do that I’m like well start with yourself like take care of yourself
Learn To Love Yourself like so so so deeply because in turn people are going
to feel that and and you’re going to start to believe it like you’re going to
start to like see yourself differently and then you show up in the world
differently if that makes sense and so I the only time I ever get really
exhausted is if I’m ever speaking at an event all day talking to people all
day I MC whenever I MC something I do have to come back and like be in a little
bit of a silo for a little bit and then I’m back but that’s really the only
time where I get severely exhausted but that’s usually an all day thing I
mean the reality is if you’re optimistic you’re bringing other people up
which is not only going to bring them more energy but their energy is then
going to bring you better energy mhm so it’s just that domino effect so it’s
it’s like a you’re just recharging your own battery totally all the time your
your energy is just recharging your own battery I I’m going to mess this
whole thing up but as you were talking about that I’m reading a book right
now and uh it’s about Marcus aelius who was the Great Roman Emperor you you
may know all of this stuff already and one of the things that he writes about
is I want to say it’s antiphanes is the is the author who said essentially he
was saying if you want to see the good in all things look first inside look
in you know discover yourself first it feels very much like what you’re
talking about yeah like the philosoph opical times yes yeah yeah uh and I
think that’s I think that’s really meaningful maybe we try to lean on
everybody else too often rather than wait what’s my what am I bringing to the
table ex if there’s poor energy in the room is it poor energy in the room or
is am I poor energy and I’m contributing to what’s happening y out here if
you were to make a list of the top five things based on what you’ve learned
over your experience with Elon pure and this journey that you’re on top five
things this is kind of putting you on the spot a little bit of most important
things you could do for yourself it could be anything Health Fitness
mentality spirituality I don’t care what is this is this is I am a very deep
thinker that’s the other thing is people see me and they’re like oh this like
blonde bubbly girl I can get like I can get deep all right and I know if you
want if you want confirmation I mean that that’s true if you look at your
LinkedIn by the way you post regularly on LinkedIn and I’ve read a a bunch of
that stuff and and there is a a lot of that content that is really insightful
and and so I think that demonstrates what you’re talking about you are very
thoughtful yeah I always joke I’m like I love going into a room and just
being so underestimated like even going in with like all of these male tech
people right you just go in and all of a sudden you open your mouth and
they’re like taken back I’m like it’s the best compliment in the world right
um so I have always been I mean even since I was so so young very much into
self-development into spirituality because it’s all it just all is one right
it all builds is who you are essentially so I remember this is probably I
don’t know how many years ago I remember writing down a list and deciding
okay well what are my core values like who do I want to be and I literally
wrote it out I’m like okay what is my personal brand I write out these 10
things Havey to share whatever ones you want and I’m like okay and I look at
it frequently to this day am I living by all of these core values like who do
I want to be the second thing I did is I have a really good buddy named Henry
Omar he is actually here locally he does a bunch of human behavior counseling
all of it um he’s incredible him and his wife do amazing things here but they
helped me on my next PATH which was understanding my negative patterns that I
bring to the workplace or into my own relationships or whatever and so I went
through the self-awareness practice of understanding what my negative
patterns were and how to overcome that because all of the relationships
whether it’s work relationships friendships um romantic relationships
whatever it is they’re going to mirror back to you what you need to work on
right and and so I remember writing down again oh my gosh where did I get
that was that from childhood okay that was definitely from you know X Y and Z
this is why I’m this way right so I went through that whole practice and
that’s a this is a lifelong practice if I can say that there are still things
to this day where i’m like paach why are you doing that you are a grown woman
like what is happening um so those are the kind of the two main things then
of course my Wellness like the reason I have so much energy is because I do
take really good care of myself all non-toxic products I eat very clean I try
to get movement in every day strength train all of that because the more you
can take care of yourself the better you can basically be around everyone
else and bring them up and you know accomplish what you want to accomplish in
this life because we should want to do amazing things right in this life
right like we should want to do all the things well I think people the the
biggest thing that holds people back are themselves a lack of faith or a lack
of confidence or a lack of commitment in in themselves on your 10 core values
do those change have those changed over time I’ve added to it but I haven’t
eliminated any mhm and it’s kind of like when you’re going through your own
self-discovery once you start learning more okay now this is like this is a
new addition right and so I’m always kind of Reinventing okay how do I want
to show up in this world and as a loner takes off I’m like okay we are going
to get bigger I have have a PR gal coming on like I am going to have to put
myself out there a little bit more than I’m probably used to like I really
need to be clear on how I’m showing up in this world and also making sure
that I stick to it and I don’t go outside of those bounds because it’s
important to me that I am showing up genuinely but also the best version of
me yeah so that I can also attract other people well and if you don’t I think
people recognize that if it’s not authentic then people will intrinsically
turn off totally what is one of the core values you can share with us oh I
mean one of them I already said was Zero gossiping like it’s just one thing I
will not participate in and so if I have a friend or anyone who wants to
gossip I liter I literally shut it down so you don’t watch like real
housewives well I’ll watch it okay but I’m not going to participate in list
in that because I will say I think I think gossiping is one of the things
that actually holds a lot of people back because they’re they’re they’re focusing
their energy on someone else and not theirselves and if we’re being honest
gossiping I mean it’s it’s a form of judgment too why are you judging well
then you need to look internally well why am I judging this person like you
know what’s going on there um and then showing up into every room like making
leaving it better than I found it so bringing the optimism that’s another one
so I mean I encourage all the listeners to go build their own like who do you
want to show show up as what what do you want to be what do you want to do
yeah it’s a cool practice and it doesn’t have to be a list of 10 I mean start
start with some things that you really feel strongly about I’m just crazy you
know I mean I just go from zero to 100 I wouldn’t call you that energetic yes
okay I have a controversial question for you okay okay is a vision board a
bunch of hoey no can let me tell you why can you prove it it is I’m just
gonna be in full transparency I’m like okay I’m like a 5050 okay on a vision
board so here’s what I’ll say the the main thing vision boards do that I
think everyone needs to have one is because when you see it there is science
behind when you see something and you visualize it your subconscious thinks
it’s already happening because your subconscious from the conscious they
actually don’t know the difference so if you’re consistently visualizing
something and seeing it now the difference is you can’t just visualize you do
have to take action on it but your subconscious literally thinks it’s already
happening like I tell people all the time I’m like I have been visualizing
like I will go to bed and this was probably way back in 2020 when I knew I
was going to start this but I didn’t know timeline like it took a while
before I even could take action I remember just visualizing three main things
I’m speaking on stage I am like with a huge team I can’t remember what my
third one was and I knew I was going to be building this and because you have
that visualization one yes your subconscious thinks it’s happening but two
somehow you start taking action because you your brain already thinks it’s
happening and I swear you just start taking action on the things that you’re
supposed to take action on I don’t even know how to explain it sometimes I
feel like maybe I’m not maybe I’m not approaching it the right way here’s
what I’ll do on a vision board I mean I’ve given it an attempt but it’s like
a half it’s to be fair it’s it’s half-hearted I’m like this isn’t going to
work no see you can’t do that I want this that’s not going to work what you
kidding me that’s I’m going to do that no that’s so it’s on the vision board
but it’s like I’ve already discount it’s not happening but that’s where
you’re subconscious like if you believe it that’s when it comes true Frank so

the the negative vision board cuz he doesn’t believe it whereas my vision
board I’m like but then it also comes true because I put on the vision where

that I mean it feels like I want to believe in that I want to believe in the
things like if you put it out in the you know your desires out to the
universe then those things are going to come back to you but then I don’t
really believe it okay well that is your problem though you need to put Faith
